Support for Qualification
What is the purpose of this funded initiative?
The aim of the STEP 1A Support for Qualification funding line is to promote and support female postdocs in the qualification phase for a professorship.
What does the funding include?
The financing of a student assistant (SHK) or a research assistant with a Bachelor's degree (WHF) for a maximum of 12 months with up to 12 hours per week to complete a publication as part of your habilitation/qualification for a professorship or to prepare your own third-party funding proposal.

Who is eligible to apply?
Advanced female postdocs at the University of Bonn who, on the basis of existing independent scientific work from the postdoc phase, are preparing a publication or preparing their own third-party funding proposal and aiming to qualify for a professorship.
The programme is particularly aimed at female scientists from disciplines in which there is a significant underrepresentation of women in leadership positions.
What documents are needed to apply?
- Letter of motivation with explanation of personal career goals as well as letter of recommendation by your supervisor
- Curriculum vitae
- Description of current research activities (2 pages)
- List of publications
What are the selection criteria for appointment?
- Scientific quality
- Academic career
- Care tasks will be given special consideration.
Please note that there can only be a limited number of grants depending on the funds available.
What is the deadline for applying?
Applications can be submitted twice a year, by 15 September and by 15 May.
